Doesn’t life often feel like a boat ride? Sometimes it’s smooth sailing. The weather is perfect, the waters are calm and it is quite an enjoyable ride. On the other hand we’ve all experienced stormy seas. The waves and the winds shake up all that is on the boat and we just feel like we’re losing control. I’m sure many of you are in stormy waters as you are reading this.
Hebrews 9:16 says that Jesus is the “Anchor of the soul.” The anchor is crucial for a boat. It keeps it in place. The winds may be strong or the currents may pull in a certain direction and it may be chaotic above water but it is the anchor that provides stability.
This sermon series through Hebrews will give us a clear picture of our Anchor, Jesus Christ. The author describes his greatness and how that plays out in our lives. I pray that our vision of Christ will grow in depth and devotion as we journey through this book together.
Blessings!
Pastor Steve
