Mamba Out

Posted by Paul Lee on

“A love so deep I gave you my all —

From my mind & body

To my spirit & soul.”

“This season is all I have left to give.

My heart can take the pounding

My mind can handle the grind

But my body knows it’s time to say goodbye.”

MAMBA OUT

- Kobe Bryant, 4/13/16

Read it again with Morgan Freeman’s voice. Love him or hate him, you can literally feel the blood, sweat and tears Kobe’s poured into his one true love. How agonizing it must have been to let it go finally for the last time. Yesterday was an emotional day for all Kobe fans. But today, as I wake up from the #mambahangover, I’m left thinking, as a Christian, do I admire someone who gave everything he had, his very spirit and soul by his own words, to a game? Or do I pity the man who gave so much to something that matters so little? And then I’m reminded of a man like the Apostle Paul who gave his life for Jesus. And these are his final words as he awaits death.

“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering,

and the time of my departure has come.

I have fought the good fight,

I have finished the race,

I have kept the faith.

Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness,

which the Lord, the righteous judge,

will award to me on that Day,

and not only to me

but also to all who have loved his appearing.”

APOSTLE PAUL OUT

2 Timothy 4:6-8

Jesus keep my sights on the life that matters, a life set on you and you alone.
